Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a commonly performed surgical procedure to remove excess skin, muscle and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. Excess skin, muscle and fatty tissue around the eyes can contribute to a tired and aged look despite feeling well-rested and refreshed.
The surgery can greatly improve the drooping upper lids or puffy bags present below the eyes. It will not remove crow’s feet, eliminate dark circles under your eyes or lift sagging brows. Often, sagging eyebrows will contribute to excess upper eyelid skin and will usually need to be addressed via a brow lift to properly correct the problem. While the surgery can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase all evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage.

Blepharoplasty is an excellent way to rejuvenate the face. Rejuvenating the periorbital (eye) area will improve a person’s appearance without being out of balance with the rest of the face. In other words, you will look better without drawing attention to other areas of the face that have not been rejuvenated. It also is a relatively simple procedure done under local anesthesia in the office. This decreases risks and saves money. Sutures are removed at six days. Make-up can be worn at that time to cover bruising. All activities can be resumed at three weeks.
